in our branch area. This may be regarding beers available, change of landlord,
closure of pub, good or bad value, or indeed anything of interest. If you have

The items below are as submitted to me and,
although every attempt has been made to check, may not be entirely accurate,
nor are they necessarily the views of CAMRA.
Barcombe
The Royal Oak, now a Harveys tied house is selling a range
from that company at competitive prices.
Brighton
The Bib & Tucker in Elm
Grove is sadly closed and will be converted into flats.
Stanmer House in the village is now a restaurant and wine bar and is selling Harveys
Best Bitter, Hophead and London Pride.
Somerset Arms in St George’s Road recently
re-opened after around 5 years is now the Bohemian. Real ales uncertain but
some evidence of a Harveys clip.
Eagle and Sussex Yeoman in Gloucester
Road and the Farm Tavern Hove both Greene King houses and operated by
the same person have received permission to sell a guest beer.
The Temple Bar, run by Indigo is now charging a
ridiculous £3.60 for Dark Star APA.
The Pub with no Name in Southover Street has been noted
selling Arundel Brewery beers at £2.85 per pint.
The Hop Poles, Middle Street, is selling guest
beers and has reverted to the name “Spotted Dog”. A good range of beers is
available but prices are high, £3.30 for a pint of Hophead. It is 40p cheaper
in the Evening Star!
The Reservoir, in Howard Road, has had a welcome
change of heart regarding pricing. Up to four Sussex beers are now on sale from
£2.55 to £2.75 per pint. A refreshing change for Indigo.
Saint George’s Inn 33 Sudeley Street is selling three
ales, Harveys BB, Arundel Gold and Black Sheep Best. Quality was not good on a
recent visit.
The Winner in Elm
Grove has been renamed “The Fox on the Downs” and is selling Courage Directors
and Best Bitter.
The Victory in Duke Street is offering a discount
to card carrying CAMRA members bringing the price of a pint of real ale down
from a ridiculous £3.50 to £2.95. Worse news if you are a cider drinker, it’s £3.60!
Cuckfield
The Wheatsheaf is now selling 6 beers, no further details.
Falmer
The Swan has at least two Palmers beers plus
up to two guests, all at reasonable prices.
Fulking
The Shepherd and Dog is now a free house and is selling 4 beers on
weekdays with 6 at weekends. Look out for beer from the new SouthDowns brewery
when production starts in Small Dole.
Glynde
The saga of The Trevor seems to have reached an end at last. We
understand a lease has now been signed.
Hove
Sussex CCC will be holding a beer festival from 5th
to 7th May during the game against the West Indies. Sponsors Greene
King will be supplying some beers but of more interest to discerning taste buds
there will be a range of Sussex beers available.
Hurstpierpoint
Pointers wine bar is selling Hophead from polypin
and has plans to install hand pumps.
Keymer
Keymer & Hassocks Men’s Club sells 4 real ales,
including Dark Star Hophead, Fullers London Pride and Young’s best bitter. This
is a private members club, but CAMRA members can be signed in on production of
a valid membership card.
Lewes
The Constitutional Club will now admit
CAMRA members with a valid membership card. Five ales from Harveys, Dark Star
and Kings were on sale and in good condition when I visited. Note that CAMRA
members will be asked to pay on music nights.
Portslade
The Stanley have their latest beer
festival between 12 and 15 February is still selling a range of quality beers
at sensible prices. Alternate Mondays are cellar nights with reduced price ales
and nibbles available.
Shoreham-by-Sea
The Green Jacket is under threat from Tesco It
appears that owners, the wonderful Punch Taverns group have sent a team of
surveyors into the pub without any consultation with the licensee.
Buckingham Arms have up to 11 beers on pump. Six regular beers
include Greene King St Edmunds, Sharps Doom Bar and Harveys Best. Ringwood
bitter is on sale at £2-70 per pint. Five guest ales are usually available plus
an occasional cider.
South Chailey
The excellent Horns Lodge has a range of four changing beers plus
cider and perry. Such a shame there is no public transport in the evening.
Wivelsfield
Royal Oak has closed again.
Wivelsfield Green
The Pear Tree has reverted to the name Cock Inn and is selling
Harveys Best, Lewes Castle Brown Ale and a guest, all very good quality, on a
recent visit.
